Gridiron

THE CHALLENGE

The DMCC Act introduces an ex-ante competition regime into the digital markets in the UK for the first time, and the CMA and others have highlighted the importance of taking a participative approach to regulation.

DELIVERABLES

Members of the Gridiron Forum have access to 6 meetings per year, enabling informal conversations which build consensus. We endeavour to bring in external expertise for well-informed discussions, and record anonymised minutes which are distributed to the members.

THE SOLUTION

The Gridiron Forum provides a neutral, off-the-record platform for informed dialogue on the implementation of the UK’s pro-competition regime under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) framework. Our aim is to foster consensus around key principles of competition policy without reference to specific cases or corporate interests. Our meetings bring together the UK's digital regulators, including the Digital Markets Unit of the Competition and Markets Authority and the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum, along with academic expertise and companies.
